The Clinical Nurse Manager has 24-hour operational accountability for a specific unit/service. As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse Manager ensures that standards for nursing care are adhered to at the unit level. The Clinical Nurse Manager is fully responsible for the unit budget, patient experience and outcomes, staff performance and development. The Clinical Nurse Manager is professionally accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Leadership/People Management
- Leads and manages the selection, development and retention of all staff within the unit
- Leads and manages ongoing activities relating to individual performance appraisals, competency validation, development plans and professional goals for unit staff members.
- Sets and monitors performance standards against patient outcomes
- Promotes positive relationships and teamwork by fostering a healthy work environment consistent with Sidra Values
- Provides leadership and direction to the Nursing team to enable the achievement of performance targets that impact safety, quality and efficiency in the provision of patient care.
- Promotes and ensures a quality learning environment for new starters, students, interns and nurse residents, and is actively involved in teaching and developing staff.
- Contributes to the attainment of strategic Nursing objectives by facilitating and embedding these at a unit level.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – SELECTION CRITERIA
EDUCATION
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (4 years)
- Master’s degree in Nursing or health-related field, or Master in Business Administration
- Registered Nurse
Preferred:
Postgraduate speciality qualification/certification
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- 7+ years of clinical experience including 5+ progressive management experience within the relevant specialty area in an acute care hospital setting
Preferred:
- Experience in an Academic Medical Center
- Demonstrated experience with clinical Information systems
- Hospital Commissioning
- Previous accreditation experience
- Evidence of publications/presentations in the past 5 years
- Inpatient and CAMHS leadership experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) with specialization in mental health
- Experience in pediatric or adolescent mental health settings
